Upscale evening at Lincoln Center's annual jazz gala

Vanessa Williams hosted Jazz at Lincoln Center’s annual gala this week in front of a crowd including Jessica Chastain, Wynton Marsalis, Raúl Esparza, Norm Lewis and Chita Rivera.

Past Thelonious Monk International Jazz Competition winner Cécile McLorin Salvant opened the show with jazz standard “My Man,” and cabaret singer Marilyn Maye brought the house down with a medley of tunes like “Honeysuckle Rose,” “Ain’t Misbehavin'?” and “I’m Gonna Sit Right Down and Write Myself a Letter.”

Hedge funder Joseph DiMenna and wife Diana were honored with the Ed Bradley Award for Leadership in Jazz, and Marsalis presented pianist Ahmad Jamal with an Award for Excellance.
